Swedens’ first tool belt

The craftsmen of today and all you tool belt lovers out there have Bengt Fyhr to thank for this great way of carrying around your tools. It was he who in the 1960’s got the brilliant idea to wear a practical tool belt for nails and tools instead of carrying them in his pockets. His colleagues were immediately interested and with the increased demand for the invention, sales quickly picked up. The belt was named SNIKKI and Sweden’s first tool belt was born.

The brand SNIKKI is owned by Fristads and the production and product development still take place in Dalecarlia in Sweden where it all once started. Here, 17 employees are working with the most ergonomic and high quality tool belts you can find on the market. Much of the production is traditionally made by hand and requires great craftsmanship. The leather used comes from Tärnsjö in Sweden and is a vegetable tanned leather with both people and the environment in mind.

Bengt Fyhr is still involved in the product development. Together with Fauna’s designer he makes sure the SNIKKI products fit modern tools and fulfil the customers’ needs. All products are tested and tried by real craftsmen for about 6 months before they are taken into production and the feedback is used to evaluate and make improvements on the products. The close relationship with the end user is an important part of SNIKKI’s success.  

In regard to sustainability SNIKKI has taken several actions to meet the demand for sustainable materials and reduce their impact on the environment. Besides the choice of materials, surplus material during production is reused. An increased efficiency in the production and the amount of certified materials are also targets within the near future. 50 years of experience and a close contact with the users have made SNIKKI a market-leading brand with focus on quality and usability. We are proud to have SNIKKI in our assortment and we know that our customers appreciate the flexibility and quality the products offer. SNIKKI is the original where the life of the product and the functionality cannot be copied.  

Just by the shore of Lake Siljan in Dalecarlia in Sweden, you find the SNIKKI production site. With more than 50 years’ experience of creating tool belts, products are developed in close collaboration with the craftsmen wearing them.   

All our black tool belts, material pouches and holders are made in Sweden. These products are made of specially developed soft leather with a durable and water repellent surface.
